How use speech recognition tools

Speech recognition technologies have exploded in recent years and the opportunities these tools offer for people living with Parkinson’s continues to grow as well. Using the voice as an interface is a very efficient way to navigate and write on computers and smartphones, as well as the unique opportunities offered by the many emerging smart speakers such as the Amazon Alexa and the Google home.

In this four-part series, underwritten by the Inova Parkinson’s and Movement Disorder Center, speech language pathologist John Dean will demonstrate how to use a range of different speech recognition technologies in various contexts. The program will cover optimal set up for different platforms, tricks and tools for improving accuracy and direct practice for a range of valuable ways to use speech recognition technology to improve day-to-day quality of life.
