IPMDC Parkinson Friends

There’s a ‘new normal’ for Parkinson’s, and it’s all about working with the right doctors to get the right treatments for you, so you can live your best life.

Our friends with Parkinson’s and their care partners are venturing out to meet in person again, in locations that follow CDC guidelines to keep us all safe and healthy.

We hope you’ll join us to meet other people with Parkinson’s and their families as we learn from local experts and encourage each other, and that you’ll leave with a feeling of hope and purpose that you can get the most out of life, maintain your independence, and continue to enjoy all that life has to offer.

Please contact sonia.gow@inova.org for details.

This in-person, eight-week series provides an opportunity to join with others who have experienced the loss of a loved one with cancer within the past two years. We will explore grief reactions, self-care strategies, changes in role and lifestyle, and finding meaningful ways to connect with and honor loved ones. Registration is required.

Group will meet at Life with Cancer Family Center:
8411 Pennell Street, Fairfax, VA 22031.
For information contact Sarah Brooks, LPC, 703-698-2529 or via email: sarah.brooks@inova.org.

Grief is a very normal and human response to loss. Capital Caring Health recognizes that each person who loses a loved one responds and grieves in unique ways. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. A grief journey will be very individual, and our highly qualified staff are available to offer support and companionship as someone moves through grief. These services include:

• Telephone support or ZOOM video calls
• Short-term individual or family grief counseling
• Resources for families with children, as well as support groups and workshops

Our grief support services are available to anyone in our community who has experienced the death of a loved one – not only hospice recipients. They are also offered at no charge. Each region that we serve has specific options that can be found on our quarterly calendar, attached.

Please share this information with any families, residents, and patients who may benefit. If someone would like to access our grief counseling services, please call us at 844-447-4383 (4-GRIEVE) or visit www.capitalcaring.org/get-help/our-services/grief-support/.
