At: Inova Conference Center – 2nd floor

Once or twice a year we are fortunate to have a visit from Josefa and John for a day of fun and friendship.
At every boost camp Josefa introduces something new that we can take home and use when we join in the online Dual Task classes!
Portuguese physiotherapist Josefa Domingos PhD and American speech language pathologist, John M. Dean, clinicians who specialize in Parkinson’s, develop these programs specifically for our Parkinson community, and in partnership with IPMDC.

– summer & fall
“FluffFlow” Exercise program – Sequence of exercises that uses a flyffly ball (easy to hold onto) to guide amplitude-based movements that gradually increase in speed, coordination, and complexity.
Dual Task for Parkinson’s comes to northern Virginia in 2024 – twice!
On April 19, 2024, Josefa and John met with Parkinson friends at the Fairview Park Marriott following IPMDC’s conference the previous day.
The program, for people who usually attend their online programs, was called PD Education in Action: Theory Meets Practice, and combined Dual Task, social and supportive activities.
We were so happy to see Josefa and John in-person twice this year! To celebrate World Smile Day we met for another boot camp at the Inova ICPH conference center on 10/4/2024.
There definitely were lots of smiles!!
Dual Task for Parkinson’s comes to northern Virginia – 2023!
On August 7 and 8, 2023, Josefa and John met with our local Parkinson community at Sportrock Alexandria for 2 days of dual tasking- in person!
Although we only meet on Zoom throughout the rest of the year, we’ve created a special community, and formed friendships. We’re already planning for their next visit in 2024!
