How can digital tools support Parkinson’s care?

How can digital tools support Parkinson's care?

Technology is playing an increasingly important role across many aspects of Parkinson’s—yet it is not always obvious how these innovations translate into meaningful, practical benefit for people living with the condition and their families.

While there is a rapidly expanding ecosystem of self-tracking tools, including apps and wearables, many remain inconsistently validated, and real-world adoption has been slower than expected. Although artificial intelligence continues to dominate headlines, truly patient-ready applications in Parkinson’s have not yet kept pace with the hype.

Join speech-language pathologist John Dean, MA, CCC-SLP, and physiotherapist Josefa Domingos, PT, PhD, for a focused conversation on what is genuinely emerging, what is already useful today, and how to make smarter, more confident choices about digital tools.

When a Parkinson’s diagnosis enters the picture, it’s not just about managing symptoms. It’s about planning for the road ahead. In this workshop, we’ll walk through how to build a well-rounded planning team that supports your legal, financial and healthcare decisions. Just like a sturdy stool needs all three legs to stand strong, your care plan needs each of these elements to provide stability and peace of mind.

From choosing the right professionals to making sure your values stay at the center of your care, we’ll explore real-life strategies to help you and your loved ones move forward together. Whether you’re living with Parkinson’s or supporting someone who is, this workshop will bring together legal, financial, and healthcare professionals who will offer guidance on questions to ask, tools to use, and steps to take, so you’re not navigating the journey alone.

AI-Generated Voice

– help for people living with PSP

Parkinson's Awareness Month

This week, we’re sharing an article from Brain and Life magazine entitled Former Representative Jennifer Wexton Breaks Barriers with AI-Generated Voice Amid PSP Battle.

Jennifer shares her journey from suspecting something wasn’t right, to diagnosis, to co-sponsoring the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act. She also explains how she uses AI to overcome the difficulties she has speaking, and how it enables her to continue to share her story and advocate for people living with similar challenges.

We were grateful that Jessica Shurer with CurePSP could speak to our Health Care Professionals conference on March 21 about the atypical parkinsonism syndromes, including Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Jessica and CurePSP are also partnering with IPMDC to share information about PSP, MSA, and CBD, at our outreach events and Parkinson Friends groups.
