What's New @ipmdc.org

Ipmdc.org is constantly being updated.
We hope you’ll check in often!

Here’s what’s new . . .

Hospital Patient Care for Parkinson’s
Access to this page is via the blue Emergency/Hospital Page button at the top of the side bar to the right of every page, and under Patient Assistance (top menu). We’ve posted documents for you to download and print, to provide information to the emergency responders and providers in hospital and rehab who will care for you. There’s also a checklist to help you pack a hospital/emergency go-bag.

PD 101
We have a new section with information about the basics of Parkinson’s. It includes diagnosis and symptoms, Parkinsonisms, diet, exercise, and more. You’ll find these fact sheets under PD101 on the top menu of each page. Our thanks to Mick Reedy, MD, Movement Disorders Specialist with Inova Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center (IPMDC) for developing this series!

We hope you find this new information helpful!

Parkinson's Awareness Month

Every year in April, organizations around the world join together to increase awareness and understanding about Parkinson’s.

In March, Inova Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center (IPMDC) held two in-person conferences:
• The first to educate health care professionals in senior living so they could understand the basics to providing a higher level of care.
• The second brought together patients, families and friends to hear the latest in Parkinson’s care, and connect with IPMDC program and community partners.

Did you know that 2025 marks IPMDC’s 10th anniversary?
Until there’s a cure, IPMDC will continue to provide you with up to date information through our programs. We invite you to explore ipmdc.org where you’ll find online libraries on topics for recently diagnosed, care partners, the Parkinson Journey, and exercise, including Zumba Gold for Parkinson’s. Also healthy eating, thinking and behavior, organizing, and more. Throughout April, we will continue to highlight our programs and resources.
