Exercise is the best!

Studies show that exercise is important for us all, in order to maintain good physical and mental health. They also show that exercise can slow the progression of Parkinson’s.

Check out Exercise Rx for online presentations on the most effective exercise options, then join in our online classes (Dual Task for Parkinson’s or Zumba Gold for Parkinson’s), or in-person classes (Dance for PD, Up ENDing Parkinson’s, boxing, yoga, HIIT, Stand Tall and Speak Loud, and more). You’ll find then all under Programs: Online and Programs: In-Person on the top menu at ipmdc.org.

Best of all, when you exercise with others, particularly in a Parkinson-specific program, you’ll have the support and friendship of others on a similar journey to yours.

Parkinson's Awareness Month

Every year in April, organizations around the world join together to increase awareness and understanding about Parkinson’s.

In March, Inova Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center (IPMDC) held two in-person conferences:
• The first to educate health care professionals in senior living so they could understand the basics to providing a higher level of care.
• The second brought together patients, families and friends to hear the latest in Parkinson’s care, and connect with IPMDC program and community partners.

Did you know that 2025 marks IPMDC’s 10th anniversary?
Until there’s a cure, IPMDC will continue to provide you with up to date information through our programs. We invite you to explore ipmdc.org where you’ll find online libraries on topics for recently diagnosed, care partners, the Parkinson Journey, and exercise, including Zumba Gold for Parkinson’s. Also healthy eating, thinking and behavior, organizing, and more. Throughout April, we will continue to highlight our programs and resources.
